Two Prison Escapees Apprehended On Washington Road in Augusta Today
Two prison escapees from the Georgia Department of Corrections were apprehended in Augusta late this morning.
Major Steve Morris of the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that two male escapees were spotted in a small truck on Washington Road near Bobby Jones Expressway. Morris said they were stopped and taken into custody a short time later on Washington Road at Woodland Road.
Two Prison Escapees are now in Custody in Columbia County
It’s not known where the prison escapees had been incarcerated or the charges against them.
The U.S. Marshal’s Office was notified that the escapees are currently in custody in Columbia County.
There’s been no comment yet from the Georgia Department of Corrections about the escape.
