CSRA High School Football Top Performers
Week One (Games on August 23rd)
- Jevon Edwards (Senior RB – South Aiken) PERFORMER OF THE WEEK
Edwards ran wild in the Thoroughbreds’ season opener. He rushed for 303 yards and four TDs on 37 carries as South Aiken knocked off Silver Bluff 28-18. In the process, he became the school’s all-time touchdown leader with 54 TDs in just 30 career games.
- Jaris Sinkfield (Junior WR – Thomson)
Thomson lost to North Augusta, but Sinkfield tried to single-handedly keep the Bulldogs in the game, finishing with eight catches for 79 yards and a pair of TD receptions. He also returned a kickoff 95 yards for a score.
- Burke County offensive line
The Bears crushed Cross Creek 52-6 and only threw the ball two times. They rambled for 321 yards and six TDs on the ground on just 29 carries.
- Corey Tillman (Senior QB – North Augusta)
Tillman was 14-for-25 passing for 231 yards and three TDS. He also rushed for another score as North Augusta opened their season with a 25-18 win over Thomson.
- Connor Brown (Senior WR – North Augusta)
Brown was a nightmare for the Thomson defense to handle. He hauled in seven passes for 131 yards and two TDs in the Yellow Jackets’ win at Thomson.
- Brayden Stephens (Junior QB – Greenbrier)
Stephens was 10-for-15 through the air for 128 yards and two scores. He rushed for another 52 yards and a TD as he led Greenbrier to a 28-14 win over Grovetown.
- Jim Franklin (Senior QB – Aquinas)
Aquinas opened their brand-new facility in a big way with a 42-20 win over Bryan County. Franklin was 13-for-18 for 211 yards and two TDs. He also ran the ball four times for 56 yards.
- Jaden Wuerth (Sophomore DE – Aquinas)
Last season, Wuerth racked up 129 tackles and led the entire state (Class A) in sacks with 14. Well, he is picking up where he left off. Through two games he has 35 tackles, four tackles for loss and two sacks – including 14 tackles and two tackles for loss in Aquinas’s win over Bryan County.
- A’Merre Williams (Senior RB – Burke County)
Williams only carried the ball eight times but still managed to register 111 yards and three TDs in Burke County’s 52-6 win over Cross Creek. In two games, Williams has seven TDs and is averaging over 13 yards a carry on just 19 rush attempts.
- Cole Trupp (Junior RB/LB – Greenbrier)
Trupp was outstanding on both sides of the ball as Greenbrier knocked off Grovetown 28-14. On offense, he rushed for 94 yards on 15 carries. Defensively, he had 10 tackles.
