Evans Man Charged With Seriously Injuring Infant Daughter
An Evans man was taken into custody this week, accused of causing serious injuries to his infant daughter on two separate occasions.
The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office says 27-year-old Samuel David Johnson was accused of injuring his daughter, who was three months old at the time, on July 22 at their home in Evans.
The arrest warrant says Johnson is accused of picking up the infant in a fit of rage and squeezing her in an attempt to get her to stop crying. In the process, investigators say two of the baby’s ribs were broken.
On August 23, another similar incident occurred at their home. according to the Sheriff’s Office.
According to the arrest warrant, “Johnson did knowingly, willfully, and maliciously cause cruel and excessive physical pain to his daughter by snatching/twisting her up about the right arm, causing an acute spinal fracture.” The baby is now four months old.
Evans Man Charged This Week
Johnson was taken into custody by the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office on August 28.
He’s been charged with two counts of Cruelty to Children-Excessive Physical or Mental Pain.
