CSRA HS Football Top Performers: Week 2 (Games on August 30)
Performer of the Week
Owen Redd (Senior WR/DB / Edmund Burke Academy)
Redd had a truly remarkable game. He caught eight passes for 186 yards and three touchdowns, He rushed four times for 120 yards and two more touchdowns. He racked up 10 tackles on defense as Edmund Burke knocked off Trinity Christian 41-28.
Ty Jones (Senior QB/DB / Lakeside)
Jones has already picked up one Performer of the Week nod and could have easily won again this week. He led Lakeside to a 28-19 win over South Aiken, going 7-of-12 passing for 121 yards and a touchdown. He rushed 10 times for 121 yards and another score. He also had an interception on defense.
EJ Hogan (Senior QB / Evans)
Hogan continues to play well for the Knights. They crushed Grovetown 38-3 and Hogan was 5-of-6 passing for 60 yards and a touchdown. He carried the ball 17 times for 77 yards and three more scores.
Beau Polcha (Junior RB / Augusta Prep)
Polcha rushed for 286 yards and six touchdowns on 17 carries at the Cavaliers topped Windsor Academy 49-22.
Mekhi Quiller (Sophomore WR/DB / Fox Creek)
Quiller had seven catches for 135 yards and two touchdowns while also returning a kick for a score that was called back. Fox Creek lost to Dixie 34-24.
Jevon Edwards (Senior RB / South Aiken)
Edwards was slowed a little by Lakeside’s defense, but still managed to rush for 156 yards and two touchdowns on 21 carries.
Michael Doe (Junior RB / North Augusta)
The Jackets dropped a heartbreaker to Lexington 20-19, but Doe was a workhorse and kept North Augusta in the game. He carried the ball 22 times for 101 yards and three touchdowns. He also caught four passes in the loss.
A’Merre Williams (Senior RB / Burke County)
Burke County faced state powerhouse Benedictine and took a loss, but Williams continued his stellar play with 14 carries for 95 yards and a touchdown. He also caught six passes for 69 yards.
Cam Austin (Senior QB / Barnwell)
Austin has led the Warhorses to a 2-0 record thus far after a 41-0 shutout over rival Williston-Elko. Austin was 8-of-12 passing for 112 yards and two touchdowns. He also rushed six times for 43 yards and another score.
Tamari Curry (Junior RB / Washington-Wilkes)
Curry led Washington-Wilkes to their first win of the season with 127 yards rushing and a touchdown on 20 carries.
Sean Vandiver (Junior QB / Burke County)
Vandiver was 18-of-33 passing for 243 yards and a touchdown in Burke County’s loss to Benedictine.
Jonathan Norman (Sophomore RB / Lincoln County)
Norman needed only four carries to finish with 72 yards rushing and two touchdowns. He also caught a 27-yard pass as Lincoln County crushed McCormick to go to 3-0 on the season.
