Missing North Augusta Girl Found Safe In Florida, Boyfriend Arrested
A missing North Augusta girl was found Friday night in Putnam County, Florida.
North Augusta Public Safety has been searching for 15-year-old Belinda Orellana Sanchez since her mother reported her missing September 4.
Belinda’s mother had dropped her off at North Augusta High School that morning and that’s the last time she had seen her since September 20.
Missing North Augusta Girl Was Not Believed to have been Taken Against Her Will
It was believed then that Sanchez had left the area with her boyfriend, 20-year-old Marlon Canas-Trochez and were possibly headed to Florida.
Public Safety officials got a tip Friday that the two were in Melrose, Florida.
“Our officers made contact with law enforcement agencies in Florida and they began assisting in trying to locate her,” according to a news release from the North Augusta Department of Public Safety.
Putnam County authorities spotted the vehicle, stopped it and confirmed that Sanchez and Trochez were inside.
Sanchez was taken to an area law enforcement substation to await the arrival of family members.
Troche was taken into custody. Charges against him have not been released yet.
“A big thanks goes out to all of our Law Enforcement partners that have invested many hours in this case to locate Belinda and have her safely returned home,” said North Augusta Public Safety.
