Hazardous Materials Spill on I-20 In Aiken County Has Traffic Blocked

A hazardous materials spill this morning was the result of a multi tractor trailer accident on I-20 in Aiken County.

North Augusta Public Safety says the accident was reported in the westbound lanes between mile markers 4 and 5. Those lanes have been shut down.

"We have closed the exit 5 westbound on-ramp for the foreseeable future," said North Augusta officials.

For now, traffic is being diverted to exit 6.

Motorists are asked to avoid that area until further notice.

It's not known if any injuries were reported.
