Say “I Do” Free in Richmond County On Valentine’s Day
Valentine’s Day is the perfect day to say “I love you,” typically with flowers, candy and a romantic dinner, but if you want to say “forever” to that special someone….consider tying the knot on Valentine’s Day free in Richmond County.
The judges in Richmond County Civil and Magistrate Courts will again officiate Valentine’s Day marriage ceremonies on Friday, February 14, from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.
The annual “Celebrate Your Perfect Love” event will be held at the John H. Ruffin Courthouse, 735 James Brown Boulevard, in Augusta.
It’s only open to Richmond County residents though.
Say “I Do” Requires Pre-Registration
While there is no charge for the Valentine’s Day ceremonies at the Courthouse, pre-registration is required.
- You must register for your Valentine’s Day “Perfect Love” wedding by Wednesday, February 12, by 5:00 p.m.
- Register online at https://laserfiche.augustaga.gov/Forms/Marriage
- You must bring a valid marriage license and government-issued identification for each ceremony participant
- Marriage license must be purchased in advance from the Probate Court of Richmond County.
- Each couple may invite two guests and a photographer.
Chief Judge Carletta Sims Brown said the free ceremonies are offered as a small gesture in hopes they will lift people’s spirits in light of the significant challenges the community has endured since Hurricane Helene.
