Work has begun on Augusta University's huge new parking structure. The $36.5 million project hopes to solve the ongoing parking battles between students and nearby residents by enhancing traffic flow and reducing wait times for parking on campus.

"Now that we've got the capacity for students and faculty and staff and visitors to park on campus, there's going to be less congestion around campus. It's going to provide more free flowing traffic, less wait times. And again, I think it's just going to be part of that vibrant college campus that we've been trying to create here. And it's certainly a signal, both internally and externally, of the growth that's taking place at Augusta University,” AU's President, Dr. Russell Keen, told WJBF NewsChannel 6.

The design shows careful thought throughout by fixing current parking problems, adding electric vehicle charging stations, and preparing for upcoming growth at Augusta University.
