Columbia County Offers Free CPR and First Aid Training

Columbia County Fire is giving back to the community, one chest compression at a time. Free CPR classes begin tomorrow.

Locals can now learn to save lives at no cost. Columbia County Fire Rescue will teach CPR at the Columbia County Emergency Operations Center. The first class is on April 22, starts at 6 p.m., and lasts two hours.

Students will master chest compressions and learn to work with defibrillators. After passing the course, they'll get cards showing they're certified for two years.

There are additional training sessions on May 22, June 26, July 21, Aug. 20, Sept. 24, Oct. 14, Nov. 13, and Dec. 8. These sessions also start at 6 p.m.

Full-day Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED courses are available on June 7 and Sept. 13. These intensive sessions teach first aid with CPR basics from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m.
