The Miller Theater is home to the Augusta Symphony.

At the Miller Theater, the Augusta Symphony plans to bring the iconic Star Wars score to life. Musicians will perform while the 1977 film plays April 24-25. This marks conductor Dirk Meyer's first attempt at a full movie performance.

"I've conducted Star Wars music so many times in my career, but I've never done the whole movie," said Meyer to Augusta Good News.

Each musician must sync perfectly with the film's scenes. The shows start at 7:30 p.m.

The Miller Theater started as a place to watch movies before becoming a concert hall. Meyer sees this event as a perfect blend of old and new. "I'm thrilled. I'm a Star Wars kid," he said.

Film concerts aren't new for this group. Their last movie performance was Raiders of the Lost Ark in October 2019. The sound of live instruments adds magic to the screen.

Past shows sold out quickly, which led to scheduling two nights.
