Free Pet Adoptions at SPCA Albrecht Center Until May 15

Each adopted pet comes with a microchip, medical care, vaccinations, and basic supplies to start their new life.

Ensuring pets are properly vaccinated, including an annual rabies shot, protects both the animal and its family.

The SPCA Albrecht Center in Aiken is sponsoring free pet adoptions until May 15.

Until May 15, the SPCA Albrecht Center will waive adoption fees for adult pets through a partnership with Bissell Pet Foundation's Empty the Shelters campaign.

The two-week program aims to place pets in new homes before spring brings its wave of kittens. Each adopted pet comes with a microchip, medical care, vaccinations, and basic supplies to start their new life.

The Empty the Shelters initiative has placed more than 190,000 animals nationwide by lowering adoption fees. By cutting fees, the foundation's events create vital space in shelters. Past results show reduced costs lead to increased adoptions, giving staff more capacity to handle new arrivals.

Staff veterinarians screen each animal thoroughly and provide preventive treatments before adoption. Their website shows current pets with photos and detailed backgrounds.

Want to meet your next pet? Choppa, an active three-year-old herding mix, craves open spaces to run. KJ, also three, knows house rules and warms up to other dogs slowly. Roly the tabby needs a solo-pet home and a special diet for digestive care.

Visit the center at 199 Willow Run Road weekdays 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with Wednesdays and Saturdays staying open until 6 p.m. Or visit LetLoveLive.org to see what pets are available for adoption.
