On July 28, workers blocked the inner lanes of Broad Street between Eighth and Ninth Streets, marking the start of the James Brown Linear Park project.
The work will shut down the middle section of the street and eliminate parking near Augusta Common. An official statement from Augusta-Richmond County confirmed these details to The Augusta Press.
During the first building phase, one lane stays open in each direction, but expect things to move slowly. City officials suggest finding different streets to reach your destination.
Officials will send out updates as building moves forward and when traffic routes change.
