Augusta Residents Need To Sign up Quick for Emergency Rent Help Before Money Runs Out

ShutterstockTime is running short for Richmond County families to get emergency rent support. The Augusta Housing and Community Development office will accept applications until Sept. 19.
The aid covers essential bills like rent, power, water, and gas. Staff members stress that money will go to those who apply first, with no guarantee of funds lasting through the deadline.
Applicants must show specific papers at sign-up. Required items include current photo IDs for each adult in the home, an active lease, two months of pay stubs, plus any unpaid bills needing coverage. Those without jobs will also need to file a Georgia Department of Labor WG-15 form to prove their work status when asking for aid.
In-Person Application Locations:
- 510 Fenwick St. takes Walk-ins Monday to Thursday, 9 a.m. to noon.
- May Park Community Center has registration on Aug. 6 and Aug. 20 both from noon to 7 p.m.
- Robert Howard Community Center has registration on Aug. 9 and Aug. 23 both from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Online applications can be completed here and are available until Sept. 19. No applications will be accepted after the deadline.
