Todd KirklandThe Bulldogs start their 2025 season this Saturday at 3:30 p.m., facing Marshall in a match ESPN will broadcast. With many key starters gone, this squad bears little resemblance to last year's powerhouse.
After their SEC title run, the team saw a mass exodus of talent. Carson Beck, who led the offense, Trevor Etienne from the backfield, and eight other key offensive players who made their mark in 2024 have left the team.
Gunner Stockton is the new quarterback. He'll work with Nate Frazier in the backfield while Dillon Bell snags passes out wide. The passing attack gets a boost from Oscar Delp and Lawson Luckie at tight end.
The 2024 team had an 11-3 overall season. Kirby Smart's crew clinched their third SEC crown in dramatic fashion, outlasting Texas 22-19 in overtime. Notre Dame cut their title dreams short with a 23-10 win in the Sugar Bowl.
The bulldogs face an interesting match against Marshall's completely rebuilt roster. The Marshal squad is stacked with 74 new players and a new coach. “I don’t know that I’ve ever seen a roster that ... it’s three-deep transfer, four-deep transfer, all these spots, a lot of transfers,” Kirby Smart said to AP News.
Dawgs247 have put together a survey where fans can submit their predictions for Georgia's season. Results will be shared this week on the team's website.
