The odds of Gunner Stockton winning college football’s top prize are rising after his stunning first game.

In a crushing 45-7 win over Marshall on Aug. 30, 2025, he threw for more than 260 yards. His brilliant play vaulted him into the top five picks for the award, based on FanDuel Sportsbook data.
At the top of the list stands LSU's Garrett Nussmeier. The rankings shifted when several top-rated QBs stumbled in their first games.
