Augusta UniversityThe Augusta Sports Council will sponsor the 2026 Athletics Hall of Fame event at Augusta University. Five sports stars will join the ranks on May 29, 2026, at the Augusta Marriott Convention Center.
"The Augusta Sports Council is proud to support the Augusta University Athletics Hall of Fame," said John Whitwell, Board President of the Augusta Sports Council, according to Augusta Jags. "This event celebrates the incredible athletes, coaches, and leaders who have made a significant and lasting impact on the university and our community."
The incoming class includes basketball coach Lenny Carlson, golf champion Broc Everett, basketball stars Lawanna "Kita" Monday and Keshun Sherrill, and baseball ace Shannon Wilkerson. Each made their mark with stunning achievements at Augusta.
In 1968, Carlson built the first integrated team at a predominantly white Georgia college. His dedication spanned five decades, with his final season in 2022-23.
On the links, Everett shot his way into history. He clinched Augusta's first NCAA Division I individual golf title in 2018 and remains the only Jaguar to receive this title.
Monday dominated the court from 1994 to 1998. She poured in 2,143 points — still the most in women's program history.
Sherrill's scoring touch put him atop the Peach Belt Conference record books with 2,333 points, and he won PBC Player of the Year while averaging 22.6 points.
Wilkerson was named the ABCA Division II National Player of the Year, smashing records with 82 runs, 101 hits, 82 RBI, and 204 total bases. He was drafted by the Boston Red Sox that year.
