City leaders boarded a trolley Monday night to inspect construction sites across North Augusta. The sites will add 7,000 new homes to this growing South Carolina city.

Council members and planners left their usual meeting location to check progress at key spots. At Exit 1, The Hive stands out as a major project that will build 668 new living spaces.

"My family and I have ridden our downtown trolley many times in North Augusta," Planning Commissioner Lisa Christie said per WRDW/WAGT. "But it was really nice just getting to see some commercial development, residential — kind of really get our eyes on where the townhouses are going, where's the commercial going, and things like that."

Workers will finish The Hive's units by early 2026, with retail spaces planned for the future. This adds to other big projects like Forrest Bluff and Kellogg Tract that are changing the city's look.

Near SRP Park, Bluegrass Place will add a mix of 500 homes, dining options, and shops.

Jovonda Bolden has watched the city change since 2010. "It's grown tremendously," Bolden told WRDW/WAGT. "I love the ballpark, and they've got all kinds of new restaurants and stuff coming up. It's great."
