Kroger Completes $1.9M Renovation at North Augusta Store
The River Commons store at 1284 Knox Ave. got updates to the deli, bakery, and produce departments. New checkout lanes were added too.

A Kroger supermarket in North Augusta, South Carolina, wrapped up $1.9 million in renovations and is now back open. The River Commons store at 1284 Knox Ave. got updates to the deli, bakery, and produce departments. New checkout lanes were added too.
The store now has a larger floral kiosk with more options for shoppers. Crews made improvements to the interior and exterior infrastructure throughout the building.
"At Kroger, our mission is to feed the human spirit. These renovations are more than cosmetic — they demonstrate our dedication to being a trusted grocer, retailer and healthcare provider for the communities we serve," said Victor Smith, president of Kroger's Atlanta Division, according to Augusta Good News.
Smith added that the company is proud to invest in North Augusta. "From the shopping aisles to our partnerships in local schools, Kroger is proud to invest in North Augusta and support families with fresh food, quality products, great value, and accessible services," Smith said.
The company recognized its associates and community Partners in Education during the celebration. Partners included North Augusta Elementary School, North Augusta Middle School, and North Augusta High School.
The project hit a 90% construction waste diversion rate. Materials stayed out of landfills. This matches the company's Zero Hunger | Zero Waste initiative, which aims to end hunger and cut food waste across the region.
The grocer has a partnership with the Golden Harvest Food Bank as part of its Zero Hunger | Zero Waste initiative. The two organizations work together to address hunger and waste reduction in the area.
"We are looking forward to celebrating with the community. Every day we open our doors and welcome our customers, whether they are shopping for everyday essentials at a lower cost or just looking for values that can make their lives healthier, easier, brighter, and a bit lighter," Smith said.
The 9 a.m. ceremony happened at the shopping center location. Shoppers can now see the results of the investment at the updated facility.
