The exhibit asks visitors to consider the waterway as both subject and storyteller. It looks at how water molds the land and brings people together.
The Savannah River has stood at the heart of Augusta's identity for hundreds of years. It's been an artery for trade, travel, and the exchange of ideas among different groups. The waterway has boosted the area's economy through shipping, factories, and fun activities on its banks, all while keeping a varied ecosystem alive.
"Between Two Banks honors this legacy, reflecting on how water shapes Augusta," the Greater Augusta Arts Council release said.
Featured artists include Cameron Young, Brianna Rose Jarvis, Rachel Polvadore, Nathan Elliott, June Klement, Rhian Swain, Molly Braun, Angel Moreno, Chloe Ross Mahon, Destinee Love, Shannon Colvin, Janie Robison, Sindhu Pillai, Theron Cartwright, David Swanagin, Sarah Felz, Trina Smith, and Kelley Igo.
An artist reception happens from 5 to 7 p.m. on Feb. 6. The works stay on view in the Augusta & Co. Gallery, located at 1010 Broad St., until March 25.
