Augusta Technical College Receives $15,000 Grant to Provide Free Job Training for Homeless, Economically Disadvantaged
Augusta Tech will expand job training program with a $15,000 grant.
Augusta Technical College secured a $15,000 grant to expand its Empowering Futures Through Job Training program, which assists those facing homelessness or severe economic hardship across the CSRA.
The Community Foundation provided the funding, and it will support five no-cost workforce boot camps serving 50 participants total.
The grant covers certified instructors, training materials, certification fees, and basic program evaluation. Participants receive career assessments, resume prep, interview coaching, and job placement help.
"At Augusta Tech, we believe access to workforce training can be life-changing," said Julie Langham, Vice President, Economic Development, according to WRDW. "This investment helps remove barriers to employment and connects individuals to practical skills and meaningful career pathways that support long-term stability."
The Salvation Army of Augusta partnered with the college, offering hands-on technical instruction and industry-recognized certifications. The boot camps target individuals facing housing instability and financial challenges throughout the region for work in high-demand fields.
This expansion marks a growth phase for the workforce development effort at the institution. The no-cost structure removes barriers that often prevent people from pursuing job training and certifications.
