The Augusta Players and The Imperial Theatre revealed plans Thursday to merge. This creates one performing arts group instead of two. Leaders say the change will boost arts across the CSRA and protect what each has built over the years.

This partnership shows how serious both are about staying strong, producing excellent shows, teaching students, and reaching more people. Combining money, day-to-day tasks, and leadership should cut waste and give them solid ground to grow from.

"Our organizations have each contributed meaningfully to the growth of performing arts in Augusta," said Dr. M. Amy Patton, Board Chair of The Augusta Players, according to WJBF. "This alignment strengthens our ability to serve audiences, artists, and the broader community through the performing arts for generations to come."

Both boards will hunt nationwide for a Chief Executive Officer. This person will guide big decisions, make operations run smoothly, back up artistic directors, and build stronger ties with ticket buyers, donors, performers, and neighbors.

More details will come out as things move along, including when key steps will happen and how the public can get involved.
