A four-story Home2 Suites extended-stay hotel will rise at North Augusta's Exit 5. Plans hit the city's planning department last December.

This marks Hilton's second venture here with The Raines Company. The new hotel will sit just south of the Tru Hotel that opened two years ago.

Home2 Suites sits in the middle tier of Hilton's lineup. The studio and one bedroom suites utilize all of the space available with streamlined storage and a separate living and bedroom space. Suites also come with kitchens that include a full-size refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave oven, toaster and coffee maker. Some even include induction burner cooktops at no additional cost. Furry friends are also welcome, as Home2 Suites are Hilton's first pet friendly hotels.

More than 800 Home2 Suites operate now. Another 750 are under construction or planned. Augusta has one, Grovetown has one, and Aiken's southside expects to welcome another this summer.

This hotel fits into Walnut Village, a planned community. The project sprawls across 50 acres between Austin Graybill Road and Walnut Lane.
