Traffic impacts are expected during the morning hours. The event runs from 7 to 11:15 a.m., starting and finishing at the Augusta University Summerville Campus, located at 2500 Walton Way.
The half-marathon begins at 7:15 a.m. Both the 10K and 5K start at 7:45 a.m. The Medals for Miles Kids Fun Run kicks off at 10:30 a.m.
Traffic disruptions will affect several areas. The Augusta Canal, Summerville, Lakemont, and Lake Olmstead neighborhoods all face slowdowns. Residents and businesses along the route received a mailer with contact information for the Augusta Sports Council.
The turn circle entrance off Walton Way and Fleming Avenue stays shut during the race. Closure lasts from 4 a.m. to noon for the start and finish line.
Organizers said no other planned closures exist outside the turn circle entrance. Motorists should anticipate delays and one-way traffic along affected streets from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m.
The Richmond County Sheriff's Department will reopen intersections once the last runner passes. Officials anticipate completion by 10 a.m.
Course maps and turn-by-turn directions are available at augustahalf.org.
Volunteers are still needed. Course marshals help keep runners safe.
