Westside Animal Hospital gave 10 K9 first aid medical kits to the Richmond County Sheriff's Office this week. Deputies and handlers can now grab medical supplies fast if a K9 gets hurt on the job.

The kits allow deputies to give immediate care to working dogs until a veterinarian can see them. This equipment will help the K9 unit as it carries out daily tasks throughout the county.

The K9 unit assists deputies with tracking suspects, finding missing persons, sniffing out narcotics, and discovering evidence during criminal investigations. Sheriff Gino Brantley stressed how partnerships with local businesses matter when supporting public safety work.

"Strong partnerships with our local businesses make a real difference in our ability to serve and protect the community," said Sheriff Brantley, according to WRDW. "We are grateful to Westside Animal Hospital for their generosity and for recognizing the important role our K-9 teams play."

Police dogs are more than just tools; they are partners to deputies and valued workers to the community. Westside Animal Hospitals' generous investment into K-9 teams is also an investment into the public safety.
