The Aiken Horse Show in the Woods happens March 27-29 at the Horse Show Grounds in Hitchcock Woods. The show runs from 8:30 a.m. into the afternoon each day. This year marks the 110th time organizers have hosted it, and proceeds go to the Hitchcock Woods Foundation.

Spectators can watch without paying a cent. Walk in through any of the seven main entrances, and you're good to go. Skip the South Boundary entrance if you're on foot, due to vehicular traffic. Driving in will cost you. A donation of $10 per day or $25 for the weekend helps maintain trails. You can snag three-day passes at the foundation office beforehand or grab one at the entrance gate when you arrive.

The show draws horse lovers, people who like being outside, and anyone interested in local history. You can watch riders compete, bid in a silent auction, or grab something from the concession stands.

Spectators can bring their own lunch to eat at various picnic tables scattered around. Or buy something hot from the concession stand. Reserved tickets get you a catered lunch under the tent.

The Horse Show Grounds sit inside Hitchcock Woods. The foundation office and entrance are at 444 South Boundary Ave. Questions? Call 803-642-0528 or check out hitchcockwoods.org.
