There was a lot of talk about scoring conditions not being ideal at the 2026 Masters Tournament at Augusta National Golf Club. The weather has been dry and warm. The greens tend to become incredibly slick. And with 36 holes left to play, a lot of that can still be tricky.
For Rory McIlroy, though, things have essentially never been better. The defending Masters champion finished Friday with the largest lead anyone has ever held after 36 holes in this tournament, six shots. That came after a blistering 7-under, 65 in Friday's round, after a 5-under, 67 in the first round. His 12-under standing has him six shots clear of the rest of the field.
