Aiken’s Run United Fundraiser Returns April 25 With Four Race Options

Aiken Electric Cooperative will host Run United on April 25 in downtown Aiken. Runners can pick from a half-marathon, 10K, 5K, or kids' fun run. All proceeds go to United Way of Aiken County.

The annual fundraiser will take over Newberry Street's festival area. Check-in starts at 7 a.m. Both the half-marathon and 10K begin at 7:30 a.m., while the 5K starts at 7:45 a.m. The one-mile kids' fun run kicks off at 9:30 a.m.

Course routes wind through Kershaw Street, Two Notch Road, and Marion Street. All courses will close at 10:30 a.m.

"Run United is such a gem, because you get the big-race feel, but you're not having to be shuttled to the start line," said Kena Black, per Aiken Standard. "You can just park in downtown Aiken and walk up."

Kena Black has participated in all three adult distances over several years. She praised how the course shows off South Boundary, the horse district, and Colleton Avenue.

The first 400 finishers in each category will get a medal inspired by Aiken's charm. Awards will go to first, second, and third-place male and female winners in age categories for each race.

Pre-race packet pick-up and registration will happen on April 24 at Aiken Center for the Arts from 3-7 p.m. Race day packet pick-up will only be available under approved extreme circumstances for out-of-town guests at the USC Aiken downtown location building.

The fun run will be free for the first 500 kids to sign up. Registration fees for other distances vary from $55 to $80, plus a sign-up fee.
