Augusta University Boosts Cancer Research With $800K Federal Funding for Equipment Upgrade

Scientists will acquire cutting-edge tools to accelerate their work. The new equipment helps researchers develop treatments and therapies for those fighting cancer.
Sen. Ossoff collaborated with lawmakers to get the grant. "Bringing Republicans and Democrats together, I'm delivering these resources to upgrade cancer equipment at Augusta University and help Georgians battling cancer get the world-class care they deserve," Sen. Ossoff said, per Augusta CEO.
President Russell T. Keen expressed gratitude for the federal investment. He explained that the funds will allow scientists to get advanced instruments.
"This support will allow us to acquire advanced research equipment that will strengthen our scientists' ability to detect, study, and ultimately combat cancer," said Keen. "For nearly 200 years, Augusta University and the Medical College of Georgia have been home to lifesaving discoveries that improve the health and well‑being of families across our state and nation, and this investment helps ensure that work continues."
