Aiken Launches $30 Swim Lessons Starting June 1 as Foundation Honors Drowning Victim
Aiken will begin affordable swim lessons on June 1.

Aiken will begin swim lessons on June 1. Sessions cost $30 per person, and scholarships exist for those who need financial help.
Kids can enroll in one-week sessions. Adults have access to two-week sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Sign up online or visit the recreation center in person.
This announcement arrives as the third annual Splash Summit happens Saturday at the Augusta Kroc Center through the Izzy Scott Foundation. The foundation was established after 4-year-old Izzy Scott drowned during a swim lesson in Burke County almost four years ago.
Over 700 people have learned to swim in two years through the foundation's efforts. The organization aims to enroll more than 1,000 people in swim lessons by summer's end.
The Salvation Army Kroc Center has worked with the foundation each year. Last year, the center provided nearly 160 swim lessons through this partnership.
The summit runs from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Attendees can register for free swim lessons at the event.
Registration for June sessions begins next Monday at the Smith-Hazel Recreation Center. Families can also finish registration online before classes begin.
