Richmond County School Superintendent Announces Resignation
Richmond County School Superintendent Dr. Kenneth Bradshaw has announced he’s resigning at the end of this year.
Bradshaw, who has been with the school system for over five years, said his resignation becomes effective December 31, 2024.
In statement released by Bradshaw this evening, he said the decision to leave is bittersweet.
“This decision did not come lightly, as my time here has been one of the most fulfilling chapters of my professional life. While I have enjoyed serving the Richmond County School System, I believe now is the right time to step away to be closer to the Atlanta metropolitan area and my family,” said Bradshaw.
The Richmond County School System has achieved the highest graduation rate in its history under Bradshaw’s leadership.
Richmond County School Superintendent Saw Academic Progress During His Tenure
Bradshaw said he was pleased to report notable progress has been made in improving academic outcomes for all students. His tenure also included:
- Collaborative efforts with Columbia County to establish the Junior Achievement (JA) Discovery Center
- The school system made historic raises in teacher and staff pay to retain top professionals
- Increasing the system bond rating and general fund to enhance facilities and provide the best resources for students.
Statement from Richmond County School Board President Charlie Walker:
“We are grateful to Dr. Bradshaw for his years of service and the strides our school system made under his leadership. While we are saddened to see Dr. Bradshaw leave, we fully support his decision and wish him the very best,” said Walker.
Walker said the Board will focus on finding the right leader to continue building on the strong foundation Bradshaw has helped establish.
