I’m Just Saying by Austin Rhodes: Tips for Trump
Powered by Roof Savers
Much like in 2016 and 2020, I have some fantastic ideas and political theories that could put the Trump/Vance team over the top with most voters if they can adequately communicate them to their supports. To his credit, former President Trump has, to his benefit, previously taken the ball and run with a few of these concepts. But Trump now needs to be brutally specific. Here are a few ways he can start!
CONCEALED CARRY IN ALL 50 STATES
Conservatives believe all Americans have a right to own a gun. Most conservatives believe that qualified individuals should be allowed to carry a personal firearm on every city street in America. I can tell you I certainly do. We currently have three members of the Supreme Court who believe local municipal governments have the power to virtually eliminate that right. That’s appalling. Under a new law, states could keep their individual regulations in place if they want, however, a new federal carry permit would be made available to those who qualify. That qualification can be as rigorous as common sense allows. The Federal concealed carry permit would be good all over the country, and carrying it trumps state and local restrictions. Those who choose not to participate in the federal screening process, undergo the heightened scrutiny that would come with the permit, and adhere to their own existing state regulations, would be denied the permit.
RAMP UP THE FEDERAL DEATH PENALTY FOR TERRORISTS AND COP KILLERS
As we have seen in recent days, domestic terrorism is sadly alive and well in America. On the rare occasion where these homegrown killers survive their rampages, they need to face the federal death penalty, regardless of whether their attacks successfully killed innocent people. Would-be assassins should not be rewarded for their ineptitude. And while we are tinkering with the death penalty at the national level, we should also consider the premeditated homicide of any law enforcement officer an attack against our nation as a whole and summarily execute all convicted of such attacks. Allow high-level federal judges to hear the cases, with well-paid public defenders furnished to those who need them. That would ensure that when a conviction occurs, executions can be accomplished in a timely manner. Local prosecutions are far too uneven in quality and form, and virtually all the cases are subject to federal review at some point. With this, we eliminate the middleman.
MANDATORY BIOMETRIC ID FOR ALL CITIZENS, PERIOD
We should have done this years ago. Mandate that every American citizen be issued – free of charge – a biometric national ID that would be required for all official business, including banking transactions. Use that ID for voting, school registration, tax returns – any instance where a name and social security number might be required. Ask any cop how many problems this would solve. It won’t be a small number.
A PATH TO CITIZENSHIP FOR ALL LAW-ABIDING ILLEGAL ALIENS
Trump will still get to build his wall, but, as a compromise, all law-abiding illegal aliens (something of a contradiction, but hear me out) who register with the government begin a 15-year path to citizenship. If they commit no serious crimes in 15 years, they would be granted full citizenship, and given the right to vote. The wall still needs to go up, and any new illegals have to be dealt with harshly. Also wrapped up in this proposal is the repeal of the “anchor baby” provision of the U.S Constitution. A quaint throwback to the frontier days, in modern times it is a hideous anachronism. Let’s halt the practice allowing illegals to cross our borders to have a child for the sake of its citizenship. This also should have been done away with years ago.
SUPERFUND CRIME LABS NATIONWIDE
This is my mission in life! Every single crime lab in the United States should receive direct federal funding to ensure efficient operation and timely results. For uniformity’s sake, base all operations out of each state’s medical college complex. This is one of the few problems in America that can be fixed immediately with money, and money we’ve got, so let’s just do it!
DECRIMINALIZE MARIJUANA AT THE NATIONAL LEVEL
Just like gambling and prostitution, the feds should allow the states to handle the legalization of marijuana as they see fit. Period.
TAX SIMPLIFICATION, PRONTO
Begin to dismantle the IRS with a hard and fast timetable. Consumption tax, flat tax, ANYTHING is better than what we have now, and Trump ought to know it.
HEALTHCARE SANITY
We don’t have it and we need it. Repeal what doesn’t work in Obamacare and keep what does. Above all, know what we are voting on and considering BEFORE it becomes the law of the land. That was not done before and see what we got as a result.
FOOD AND DRUG ADMINISTRATION REFORM
The red tape and bureaucracy associated with getting prescription medication is hideous. Allow a blue ribbon committee made up of physicians and scientists to determine how the overly complicated process might be simplified. Remove financially incentivized lawsuits against drug companies for anything other than criminal fraud or premeditated misbehavior.
NATIONAL ADOPTION STANDARDS AND TAX BREAKS
Providing a good home to children shouldn’t require 50 sets of rules in 50 separate states. Grant tax credits for all expenses related to adoption as the legal and medical costs associated with the process often make it an option only for the very wealthy. In today’s world, there is no reason for the process to be cost prohibitive for those very good people who want to open their home to a child.
NO TAX ON TIPS – OR SOCIAL SECURITY BENEFITS
Trump has already hit a home run with his no-tax-on-tips initiative. Now it is time to provide a much-needed break to folks at the end of their professional lives. Let’s provide some much-needed relief on the taxation of Social Security benefits. It makes perfect sense in today’s crazy expensive economy, and the “rich” can still pay as usual on whatever additional income they have in retirement.
A GOP STATEMENT ON ABORTION
This is a much-needed clarification, and Trump would benefit greatly if he made it. Most modern conservatives opposed the Roe vs. Wade standard on abortion and many a liberal legal mind has echoed belief that it was bad law – including Ruth Bader Ginsberg. Trump needs to state unequivocally that abortion rights and regulations are a state issue and should be handled as such. Nothing short of a Constitutional Amendment should change that.
A UNIVERSAL AGE OF MAJORITY
It is ridiculous that we have split apart “adult” responsibilities and privileges in this country willy-nilly. The age of consent is often nowhere near the age of recognized majority (18 nationwide for voting and legal responsibility), or the age at which alcohol consumption becomes legal, or the age when a handgun might be purchased. And don’t get me started on abortion rights. A minor female can’t get her ears pierced without a parent’s consent, but in many states she can get an abortion on her own – no problem.
We need to get together as a country and decide one age of legal majority covering all circumstances.
