New City Administrator announced; three Department Heads resign
More than two years after the resignation of Odie Donald II, Augusta has a new city administrator.
The Augusta Commission voted Tuesday to hire Tameka Allen as the permanent replacement.
The Commission also voted to accept the resignations of three department heads. After a closed-door meeting lasting more than four hours, commissioners accepted the resignations of Finance Director Donna Williams, Procurement Director Geri Sams, and Interim Director Takiyah Douse.
House had been considered a candidate for the position eventually offered Allen.
All three women will take administrative leave until their resignation date of Sept. 30. Douse is slated to receive 12 months’ salary and Williams and Sams which each receive six months’ salary. According to a Sept. 12 story in the Augusta Chronicle, Douse’s annual salary was $201,571, Sams’s salary was $149,090.29 and Williams’s salary was $147,416.04.
